Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Vessel Version(s): V8i Environment: N/A Area: Modeling Subarea: Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Problem: Can AutoPIPE VESSEL calculate the number of bolts required if users deigns with wrong number of bolts? Answer:   There are 2 modes in which you can perform calculations in AutoPIPE Vessel: 1. " Design" - In this mode the software performs optimum design and determines automatically thicknesses and other strength bearing parameters eg. number of bolts 2. " D. Check" - In this mode the software only performs strength calculations based on user input, hence the user would need to input all the geometric parameters eg. thickness, number of bolts etc.   The software automatically calculates the number of bolts for body flange based on the size of the bolt selected, if the design optimization mode ("design") is selected: Above - in the input screen only size of bolt is selected, In the report (below) you would find the software calculated the number of bolts (44 in this case). In "D.check" mode the user need to input all the input parameters including size and number of bolts and in case the number of bolts is insufficient, the software would prompt the user by issuing an error message that "bolting insufficient" etc.: See Also Bentley AutoPIPE External Links Bentley Technical Support KnowledgeBase Bentley LEARN Server Comments or Corrections?
