Answer: Yes, it is version dependent to a degree. You must have installed AutoPIPE V8i 09.03.xx.xx and higher, in addition, you must have installed STAAD 2007 and higher as these are the version where the PIPELINK command was  first introduced. After that you can have any combinations of AutoPIPE to STAAD version as there is no feature requirements between the application versions.   Item #2, Question Is there a limitation for exporting loads to STAAD using pipe link? if so how many? Answer: Yes there is a limitation, no more than 332 non-code combinations can be exported by AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.00.xx and lower. This was logged under CAE-TR-11136 and will be fixed in AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.01.xx and higher. Item #3, Question: Can AutoPIPE export the beam structure to STAAD using pipelink? Answer: Please see the following AutoPIPE help section: Help Contents Contents Tab Command Reference File Commands Export  Model to STAAD Using PipeLink As seen in the online help: The following data will be exported: PipeLink revision information Model information Piping Geometry as an ADI Pipe Supports Pipe Support Connections Supports Support Loads Anchors Anchor Loads Only those items listed above are exported to STAAD. As such, BEAMS are not listed and thus are not exported to STAAD. However, structure created in STAAD are able to be imported into AutoPIPE. Item #4, Question: We are exporting  this piping model from AutoPIPE to STAAD.Pro for doing dynamic analysis in STAAD.pro. Question, will the exported piping model include weight and stiffness so we can do mode shape with structural model together in STAAD.Pro.  Answer:   Please see the the Item #3 answer above for exactly what is exported by AutoPIPE to STAAD. AutoPIPE's Geometry and loads can be seen in STAAD. However, the piping geometry does not have pipe properties, it is just a graphical representation showing the piping layout. The STAAD structural model is only able to import the support reactions as loads from AutoPIPE. Subsequently one can do a frequency analysis in STAAD in which these imported loads can be considered as masses along with the structural masses. The stiffness of the pipe cannot be considered. A better option would to be exporting the STAAD structure back to AutoPIPE for a complete dynamic analysis the considers both piping and structure.
