In the second chamber I want my nozzle to come out of the bottom with a goose out of shell 1. how do i create this nozzle? My nozzle is set on chamber two but it does not want to move to the bottom it stays on shell chamber 1. Answer: To do that the user has to input the exact level of the bottom head in the Location field of the nozzle and add a length in the Location field of the Goose: I added a Nozzle (tag: BSN) in the model (imaged below), see the goose nozzle in the 3D view. Item #2: Can I put a reinforcing pad on both shell locations, as shown below? Answer: the program will easily model a reinforcing pad at Location #1, but not at location #2. Furthermore, reviewing the warning messages after the analysis the following maybe displayed: "337 NOZZLE xxx: elbow on head, the reinforcement on the external shell should be checked using another calculation." Therefore, currently, only the opening for the location #1 (head) is checked by AutoPIPE Vessel, for the location #2 in the cylindrical shell there is no verification. The user will need to do a separate verification of this special/specific opening. Furthermore, the opening can be checked in another model but take into account the two different pressures and temperatures applied on this opening: pressure/temperature in the nozzle and the pressure/temperature in the shell. This case is not described in the pressure design codes. Item #3: Saddle position – Can AutoPIPE VESSEL recommend the best saddle position and show result in calculation sheet? Answer: No, the software would not automatically assign the saddle location nor recommend the best position, there is an initial first saddle location setting where you can set the location of the first saddle from the ref. tangent line: You can double click on the saddle to bring up the saddle dialog box and manually change the saddle locations: The software however performs a detailed beam analysis for the whole vessel on saddle and computes bending moments, stresses and shear forces for a complete analysis of the vessel and thickness determination and also takes in effect of earthquake, wind, wave motion (new feature for SS1) and blast loading (new feature for SS1) forces other than external/internal pressure and for all the loading cases (operating, lifted, erected, test, shutdown etc.), it also automatically adds stiffening ring near the saddle if necessary: Item #4: Logged November 2014: How to design a jacketed vessel in AutoPIPE Vessel?
