Hello Gabriel,
AutoPIPE works on the establishing a node point in space and then adding piping components / frames in any direction based on change in distance from the previous point. With this in mind, all you need to do in order to layout 3 consecutive bends is to able to locate the TIP (transitional Intersect Point) of each bend with a respective radius not to overlap successive bend's Far point with next bend's Near point. If these points overlap, the bend will not be drawn; reduce the bend radius of one or both bends to correctly space the points along the curve.
You can choose to lay this out in a CAD program and then manually enter the TIP points into the AutoPIPE model. OR, you could calculate these points based on mathmatical equations for a mitered bend (Please see the following AutoPIPE help section: Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Modeling Approaches> Modeling Approaches> Bend> Miter Bends> Model 2: 3 Cuts - Widely Spaced.
In addition, This information can be found with Bentley's Knowledge Search utility:
____1. Go to the Bentley web site (www.bentley.com)
____2. Select "Support and Services" from the top
ribbon
____3. Select "Support" hyper link
____4. In the multi colored blue/green grid, under
Support Tools heading, select
"KnowledgeBase" hyperlink
____5. Log into the Bentley website. (call Bentley if
you have troubles logging into the website)
____6. Enter the following into the "Search Text" field
"84265" and press "Search" button.
____7. The first 100 hits will be displayed.
____8. Review the results and select the hyperlink
labeled "AutoPIPE: how to model a ring main".
Note:
a. Use the "Advanced search" hyper link can yield more specific results (exact phrase, limited to a product name, etc..)
b. See training video on using Knowledge Search at: [View:http://screencast.com/t/wZ0sHOGpdibl]
Also, in AutoPIPE V8i 9.6 (pending testing) there should be a new ring main wizard to help with creating a complete or partial ring main (saving a lot of time). However, this is based on 1 pipe diameter not multiple. Regardless, as long as you get the node points located in the model, you can change the pipe properties after the ring has been created.
