It will be fixed in future release of AutoPIPE Vessel. Solution Currently there is a workaround for this problem. Please see the following link for the solution: http://communities.bentley.com/products/pipe_stress_analysis/m/pipe_stress_analysis_gallery/269463.aspx Item #2: I have made an input file on a BEM heat exchanger. When running the program it stops without a warning. Running on an other computer gives the same result. Why and how to resolve? Answer: After reviewing this user file it was determined that many things must be changed in their input data file: All the elements on the tubes side must be on chamber 2 (nozzles T1, T2 ;elements of geometry 103, shell 102) A tubesheet cannot be directly welded on an elliptical head : insert between the body flange 301 and the the elliptical head 303 a shell which has a length equal to the straight flange of the head + the height of the flange at least. All the elements on the shell side must be on chamber 1 (body flange 301) After the appropriate changes were made the model was able to run without issue. Item #3: The application crashes when running the Strength calculations, why and how to avoid when using AutoPIPE Vessel? Item #4: I am designing a tall column with several trays and the program crashes while executing. Why does it happen and how to correct this? Is this because there is a limit on the height of the vessel? Answer: There is no restriction on the height of column in AutoPIPE Vessel, however the crash may occur because excessive number of loads being applied due to very large number of trays and or attachments as shown below: FIGURE 1 AutoPIPE Vessel has a limit of upto a maximum of 400 loads that can be applied for the beam model. A workaround could be to replace some trays and accessories and replace them by a single equivalent internal (vertical load) as shown, that way it would reduce the total number of applied loads and keep it within the limit specified above: FIGURE 2 The top 2 sets of trays (total 35) in figure 1 is replaced by an equivalent vertical load of 103005 daN as in Figure 2. The file executes without a problem when the weights of the trays are replaced by the equivalent load as shown above. Item #5: Application crashes when I put lateral support above 2100 inches from ground on a vertical skirt supported column. Ans. Any support added to a guided column above 2100 in total length (includes length of skirt) leads to program crash. This happens due to a defect in the GUI which is currently under investigation and would be fixed in the next build to be released in September 2015. Please for the moment consider keeping the supports below the elevation of 2100 in or perform hand calculations. As an example shown below the support has been added at 1799 in so that the total height till the support from ground = 1799 + 300 (skirt height) in = 2099 in < 2100 in See Also Bentley AutoPIPE External Links Bentley Technical Support KnowledgeBase Bentley LEARN Server Comments or Corrections?
