Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE, Version(s): 2004, XM, & V8i Environment: N/A Area: Library Subarea: Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Dec 2014, AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.01.10 Problem: How to add a new material to existing library, AutoPIPE V8i v.9.0 and higher TR Number: None Product: AutoPIPE Version: 09.04.00.19 Area: General Problem ID#: 71134 Answer: To see what materials are available in AutoPIPE, please see the following AutoPIPE help section: Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Reference Information> Libraries> Code Dependent Pipe Materials, Click on a library to display its Code Materials table. In the same on line help location above, see the following document, "Building a Custom Library" Or download the following file, " Add new material to AutoPIPE 9.0 and higher.zip" . Please file a service ticket if you need a specific SRC file for AutoPIPE. Service ticket information should include 8 digit version number of AutoPIPE (Help> About) and for which piping code the material is to be added too. Remember, being a custom module, Bentley cannot be held responsible for the inaccuracy of the new library content. It is your responsibility to verify the following information: a. Verification of data in the SRC file b. Verification of data in the Press / Temp. dialog c. Verification of relevant data in the Pipe Properties dialog +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ***Attention*** - IMPORTANT Notes: 1. When adding new materials to the AutoPIPE SRC files, the Material or Spec names can only use Alpha, numeric, and "-" characters(example: Steel-1). If any other characters (i.e. ., _, *, /) are used, AutoPIPE will compile the library but will not display it in the program. 2. At no time should a different material library file be selected under Tools> Model Options> General> "Libraries - Component / Material" that differs from the intended code material library (example: if ASME B31.1 piping code was selected, suggest using the default or custom ASME B31.1 material library). Highly recommended to NOT mix and match piping codes and material libraries at will. Example of mixing and matching: If ASME B31.1 piping code was selected, randomly selecting a material library like En13480's EuroXXX. Mixing material libraries with the wrong piping code could yield incorrect results. More information about mixing and matching: The material libraries are based on information from a specific code (example ASME b31.1, En13480, etc..). The material libraries themselves are set up with a unique format because of the data required by the specified code, example: Tools> Library> table Type = Spec, Library name = B311-10 or Euro2009, Action = Scan. This procedure will display the respective library. The columns for each material in ASME B31.1 material library: Temp, Allowable, Yield Strength, & UltimateStrength The columns for each material in Eruo2009 material library: Temp, 0.2% proof, 1.0% proof, & Tensile Strength. If you selected ASME B31.1 piping code and then selected Euro2009 material, AutoPIPE would read the library data from the Euro2009. As a result when the program was asked to retrieve the Allowable from the 2nd column of the material file, it would in fact retrieve the 2nd column of the Euro2009 material library or the 0.2% proof figures. This is an error, and why in the newer version of AutoPIPE the development team has restricted the library selection. Again, suggest to not mix and match material libraries and piping codes, unless you verify all the data returned by the library is the correct information.
