Therefore it is an internal blast load with a normal operating pressure is about 1 psig and the code is ASME B31.3. Can it be modeled as a "water hammer" type shock load using the blast press of 364 psig going down the pipe which has elbows and tees? If so, how would this be done? The air flow is very low and its effect is minor. Answer: The Load> Fluid transient utility can be used. Adjust the flow rate to give the desired pressure rise of 365 psi. This will model the wave traveling through the piping. Of course this will also produce an operating case with this increased pressure. Some codes allow 10% over pressure.
