Problem Description

Is that possible if we want to model a rigid hanger support that will only exist in static cases (take the dead weight and thermal loads), but will be ignored (considering lifting-up in dynamic load) in seismic case in a single piping model?

In other words, can we define the supports in different load cases instead in one common geometry model?

Solution

Inside of an AutoPIPE model, select any support to be modified. On the modified support dialog screen is a drop down list of all the support available in the program. A user can insert one or more supports at a single node point to mimic an actual real life suport. For more information on support types please press the Help button on this support dialog screen; displayed "Supports Overview", select the support type hyperlink for details.

With regards to your request above, a Damper support has the following behavior: dampers are active only for static seismic and dynamic load cases (E1 - E10, R1-R50, S1-S10, F1-F10, H1-H10, M1-M50); they have zero stiffness for all other load cases. However, you are looking for the  exact opposite of this. I apologize but there is no such support avilable in AutoPIPE at this time. I have logged this as an enhancment request.

CAE-CR-10999: Add options to apply support stiffness per selected loadcase
