Wiki Page: 15. What does LOC mean in the General Stress Report for AutoPIPE?
Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): ALL; Environment: N/A Area: Report Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Date Logged & Current Version July. 2017 11.00.00.22 Problem: What does LOC mean in the General Stress Report? Solution: Total stress is calculated every 15 deg and the zero degree axis for the total stress location angle in a clockwise direction around the pipe. The 0 degree axis is the local axis of the pipe cross-section, i.e. perpendicular to the pipe axis, corresponding to the resultant in-plane bending moment. For example, if the local bending moments are my and mz, then arctan (my/mz) is the location off the 0 degree reference axis for the general stress location relative to the local y axis. Note: For straight pipe in-plane bending is arbitrary since no plane of bending like an elbow. Axial stress: fx/A in-plane bending stress: my/Z out-plane bending stress: mz/Z where, fx = local axial force my = local in-plane bending moment mz = local out-plane bending moment See Also Typical Comments, Questions, and Answers about AutoPIPE's Ouput Reports Bentley AutoPIPE

Product activation is not the same as checking out a license. This document describes how to configure AutoPIPE Vessel for activation. After initial configuration, AutoPIPE Vessel automatically and transparently tries to activate each time it runs, and runs unconstrained for a period of 30 days after its last successful activation. However, if activation is unsuccessful for a period of 30 days, AutoPIPE Vessel will not start until it is activated again. Activating a product using the Product Activation Wizard The Product Activation Wizard is designed to step users through the product activation process. After a product is installed, you must obtain a license and then activate that license. Obtaining the license alone is not enough to complete the process. This wizard eliminates the confusion and makes it clear that obtaining a license and activating a product are two essential steps. The Product Activation Wizard opens automatically (unless the "Activate product using Bentley License Tool" check box is turned off) at the end of the product installation process. See the AutoPIPE Vessel Quick Start Guide for more information on installing AutoPIPE Vessel. The first screen of the Product Activation Wizard offers four product activation options: SELECT subscribers with a deployed (local) SELECT Server SELECT subscribers activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT Server Non-SELECT users Evaluation Only - No license information The wizard steps you through the activation process based on the options selected. SELECT subscribers with a deployed (local) SELECT Server If you are activating against a local SELECT Server, you must provide the proper Server Name and Activation Key. The Server Name and Activation Key, along with any proxy configuration information, can be obtained from your Site Administrator. Enter the name of the server in the Server Name field. Enter the site activation key in the Site Activation Key field. If you are using HTTPS, enable the HTTPS (SSL) check box. If you are using a Proxy server to connect to the hosted SELECT Server, click the Proxy button and fill in the Proxy Server information then click OK. Click Test Connection to verify the connection to the SELECT Server. Click Next. The Wizard Selections dialog box displays the information provided on the previous dialog boxes. Review the information and click Finish to activate the product. SELECT subscribers activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT Server If you are activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT Server, the Server Name is pre-populated but you must provide the proper Activation Key provided by the Bentley Sales Support Center . NON-SELECT user If you are not a Bentley SELECT subscriber and you are activating AutoPIPE Vessel, you are presented with three options: I have a license file ready to import I have an activation key I do not have any license information a. I have a license file ready to import Enter the path to your license file (or Browse to the location of your license file) in the License File field. Click Next. The Wizard Selections dialog box displays the information provided on the previous dialog boxes. Review the information and click Finish to activate the product. b. I have an activation key Enter the site activation key in the Site Activation Key field. If you are using HTTPS, enable the HTTPS (SSL) check box. If you are using a Proxy server to connect to the hosted SELECT Server, click the Proxy button and fill in the Proxy Server information then click OK. Click Test Connection to verify the connection to the SELECT Server. Click Next. The Check out license now? page displays. Enter your Email address in the Email Address field. Select the product to be activated (if not pre-populated) it the Product Name field. Enter the product version number (if not pre-populated) in the Product Version field. Click Next. The Wizard Selections dialog box displays the information provided on the previous dialog boxes. Review the information and click Finish to activate the product. c. Wiki Page: 08. The AutoPIPE code combination value of "Max Range {TR]" does not match the indicated combination value or any of the other Expansion combination values, why?
Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): All Environment: N/A Area: Report Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Date Logged & Current Version July 2015 09.06.02.06 Problem: The AutoPIPE code combination value of "Max Range {TR]" does not match the indicated combination value or any of the other Expansion combination values, why? Example: Solution: This is not correct, there is a problem with the model and it should be reviewed by the CAE development team. Please submit a Bentley Service Request and attach a copy of the AutoPIPE APC file for review. In addition, please include as much background information as possible about the model (i.e. created using copy clip, created using import, etc..) to help the development team try and reproduce the same results. Only knowing how the problem occurred, can a solution to prevent it from happening be added to the program. Any and all information is appreciated. Workaround: With the affected model opened in AutoPIPE V8i (assuming 09.05.xx.xx or higher), preform the following: 1. Select File> Save as> Choose AutoPIPE 9.4 (dat) or any earlier version than currently being used. 2. After the model was saved, close the current model. 3. Select File> Open> locate the file from step #2 above (i.e."filename_v94.dat") and Open it. 4. Save the file to the current edition format, File> Save 5. Review the entire file to determine input values and settings are found to be correct 6. Select Analyze> All. 7. Review the results. The results should be correct now. Again, please send any information about your original model for review in the SR. See Also "Code Compliance" sub-report using Results> Output Report Bentley AutoPIPE

Wiki Page: 09. What does "*w/sus. load margin" mean in the AutoPIPE's Code compliance output report?
Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): All Environment: N/A Area: Report Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Date Logged & Current Version Oct. 2015 09.06.02.06 Problem: What does "*w/sus. load margin" mean in the AutoPIPE's Code compliance output report? Solutions: The solution to this question is directly related to understanding 2 settings: a. Sustain Margin (Y/N/E) b. Use min. sustained margin (where available) It is up to the individual and their engineering judgement on what value to use for these settings. However, it is possible for a code combination to fail (ex. 1.32%), but will pass when sustain load margin was applied (ex. 0.85%). According to Results Summary code requirements have been satisfied Otherwise, if Sus. load margin was not applied, the node point would report as being over stressed and would not satisfy code requirements. Again, the user should decide when or if sustain load margin can be applied to a model / project. For more information, refer to the following. Wiki Page: 01. The displacement results for all WIND load as were found to be zero, even for extremely high force wind events. Why?
Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): ALL Environment: N/A Area: Report Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Date Logged & Current Version Feb. 2015 09.06.01.10 Problem: The displacement results for all WIND load as were found to be zero, even for extremely high force wind events. Why? Solution: There are 3 possible issue that would cause this to occur: 1. No wind has been applied to any segments in the model. On the Segment tab of the input grids, Apply Wind has not been enabled for any segments, Example Segment A is exposed to wind, but segment B is not. 2. All piping is below ground The Ground elevation value on the wind dialog screen was set such that all piping is actually below the ground surface where wind load does not affect the piping. See Load> Wind...> example: the vertical ground elevation is +30 feet In the example above, the highest vertical node point elevation in the model is 10.67 ft. However, the Wind dialog ground level is set for +30 ft. Therefore the program assumes that all node points below vertical elevation of +30 ft is considered to be below ground. This scenario will result in 0.00" displacement for the wind load case as all piping is considered below ground regardless of the "Apply Wind" segment selection. 3. Performing a Linear analysis. There will be no pipe displacements at supports with large gaps if performing a Linear analysis which ignores all Gaps, Friction, and Soil settings. For a given Analysis Set enable Non Linear or Gaps/Friction/Soil check box to consider these settings. See Also "Displacement" sub report Bentley AutoPIPE

Wiki Page: 01. Different Types of Supports In AutoPIPE?
AutoPIPE has 9 different types of pipe supports. Note: Please see the following AutoPIPE help section to see a grid and hyperlinks that completely describes each type of support and their respective bearing directions: Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Command Reference> Supports: From AutoPIPE's online help: Note: Bearing Direction refers to what axis a support's stiffness will act in. Like a spring, support stiffnesses (ex. Rigid, 100 N/mm, etc..) will only act in the direction specified by the chart above for the respect Support type. When referring to a V-stop, the bearing spring stiffness is Rigid and only acts in the Vertical direction regardless of the modeled pipe slope. A support may be added at any point in the piping (or framing) system, and more than one support is allowed at a point. Once the "Support Type" is specified, the dialog is updated to provide additional fields which are unique to the type of support requested.
