This has been an issue for me as well quite some time now. Linenumbers though can be inserted under the Segment tab in the Input Grid window, but it requires you to understand how AutoPIPE deals with this. Nevertheless, more than 8 characters would make sense

Overall it really depends on what approach the designer wants to adopt. See Also AutoPIPE Vessel Error messages

Solution: There is a detailed in section C7.5 of CODAP Division 2 (Edition 2010) dedicated to Fixed tube sheet exchanger and Alternative rules; wherein configuration 'd' covers tube sheet gasketed on both sides, clamped between flanges. However at this time, April 2019, AutoPIPE Vessel does not have the ability to model this type of configuration. A new enhancement (1021806) has been logged and should be added to a future version of the program. If you have this issue, please log a Service Request, referencing this WIKI and asking if this modeling approach has been added to the program. See Also AutoPIPE Vessel Error messages

Solution: AutoPIPE Nozzle does not have a shell type = elbow. However, AutoPIPE nozzle does have a shell type = Cylinder, where a trunnion can be modeled atop it. Suggest this as an approximation approach for an elbow with a trunnion. To get an exact answer would require modeling in a full FEA program. Give the following information: Piping code = B31.3 - 2014 Ambient temp = 21 deg C Units = SI Hydrotest settings: Solution: Start by looking at the following AutoPIPE help section: 1. Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Reference Information> Code Compliance Calculations> select the proper piping code & year 2. Select the Hoop Stress section 3. Look for the appropriate equations for Stress and Allowable that AutoPIPE is using. From the Pipe properties dialog find values for Do, Wall thk, Corrosion allow, Mill tol, W, and E. From the Pressure Temp tab on the grids find the respective value for Pressure, Temperature, and SH as defined by the Hydrotest dialog (ex. P4 - T4) Perform the Calculations Stress Calculation: where: P = 4 N/mm^2 Do = 219.075 mm tred = 7.036-.1.5-0.879 (Help> Definition of terms> Pipe Properties) Y = 0.4 Hoop Stresses = 138.726 N/mm^2 Allowable calculation:: = W*E*SH where: W = 1 E = 1 SH = 137.8951 N/mm^2 Hoop Allowable = 137.90 N/mm^2 Compare to allowable documented for hydrotest case: Note: In some case the allowable is calculated as the lesser of ( W*E*SH, Cold Allowable) The hoop allowable matches exactly, however hoop stress hand calculation does not match AutoPIPE, why? Question: What else can influence the code calculations. Answer: Correct, the Results Model Options settings. If you do not already know about these settings, strongly suggest that you spend a little time getting to know them all because these settings will significantly affect your results. As in this case, the results calculation was changed because of "Use nom. thk for hoop" setting was enabled. Instead of Tred, use Tnom. in the hoop stress equation. Now, Hoop stress = 91.009 N/mm^2. Why the software doesn't show the value of multiplier as requested by ASME B31.3 (that is generally 1.5 Sc/Sh)? Solution: The Hydrotest parameters are printed in the " Analysis Summary " section of the output report under "Hydrotest Load" Temperature Load Case Factor Pressure load Case Factor Note: Temperature and Pressure load case values can vary from node point to node point. In some cases the values may be all the same, in other cases for each set of node points these values can be different. Therefore, AutoPIPE performs this calculation internally and prints the results in the output report. Each of the values (Press or Temp) used for the calculations are not printed in the output report. The Load> Hydrotest command enables the user to define the hydrotest conditions of a piping system. A hydrotest is a common method for testing the integrity of a piping system before it is put into service. In this test, the piping system is filled with pressurized water and checked for leakage, etc. The Hydrotest option permits a simulation of this scenario. Please note that the AutoPIPE Hydrotest option automatically converts all spring hangers into rigid supports to simulate the holding pin which is still in the spring hanger during the hydrotest.
