Forum Post: RE: Quarterly usage in AutoPIPE
Hello Avi_C, Because AutoPIPE v9.6 and higher supports trust licensing, any number of people from a company can work on the software and be invoiced at the end or the period. That is exactly the frame work for trust licensing. However that is not what you were asking for in your original posting. Your original posting was requesting a change in the contract. Any and all changes to the contract are done by contact your Bentley Account sales person or by contacting Bentley Contract group.

Sorry for misunderstanding. The question is how to achieve it. The user tries to work with AutoPIPE Advanced but receives the message I have attached and the sofware goes to Demo mode.

Hello Avi_C, They still need to have access to a valid contract that has AutoPIPE Advance. Following Assumes using SES licensing with AutoPIPE 12.x and higher. 1. Confirm that they are Signed into Connection Client . 2. Activate product inside of BLT. 3. Only after the above have been completed, then inside of AutoPIPE select Advanced radio button . If you are unable to get a license at this point, then Please contact Bentley Licensing team for assistance. Forum Post: AutoPIPE Spring Hanger Selection Thermal Movement results
I need a support to understand the thermal movement given in the hanger selection report for 2 AutoPIPE model. For the first one, it is about a model created by my colleague. During her holidays, I copied and pasted the .dat file without changing anything. I performed a hanger selection and I found a thermal movement of -20mm. But, my colleague found -5mm when she performed the selection. How to explain this discrepancy? Then, I am working on a model with -Z elevation of 1200mm so I expected that the thermal expansion to be 1200 mm * (410 degC - 21.1 degC) * 18.1*10^-6 mm/mm/degC = 8.5 mm but the thermal movement in the hanger selection report is -19.5 mm. I don't understand that result.

Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): 2004, XM, V8i, CONNECT; Area: Message Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Date Logged & Current Version Oct. 2015 10.00.00.10 Problem: The following confirm message was displayed in AutoPIPE: --------------------------- Confirm --------------------------- Code combinations with unanalyzed load cases were found. The results for these combinations will not be complete. To see additional details, see the Analysis Summary report (Result/Output Report). Would you like to deactivate all code combinations with unanalyzed load cases? --------------------------- Yes No Cancel --------------------------- --------------------------- Confirm --------------------------- Non-Code combinations with unanalyzed load cases were found. The results for these combinations will not be complete. To see additional details, see the Analysis Summary report (Result/Output Report). Would you like to deactivate all non-code combinations with unanalyzed load cases? --------------------------- Yes No Cancel --------------------------- Solution: As mentioned in the message, review the Results> Output report> Analysis Summary report in its entirety. See example: Some of the combinations have * or ** at the beginning, which is referring to the foot notes at the bottom of the page: * indicates that the load case has not been analyzed ** indicates that the combination includes unanalyzed load case(s) or combination(s) that include unanalyzed load case(s). Considering the example image above, note that Combination Description = Occasional is comprised of the following load cases: Sustained and R22 (see Case / Combination column from the report). Note that the R22 load case has a * at the start of the load case name. This is referring the reader that to the following foot note: "indicates that the load case has not been analyzed". Therefore, go back into AutoPIPE and review the Static and Dynamic load set settings. Note that the indicated load cases (ex: R22, U21, and R12) have not been analyzed or been deleted from the model. Avoidance: See the Analysis Summary report to determine which combinations and ultimately which load cases have not been analyze. Choose of of the following: 1. Adjust the Static or Dynamic Analysis set settings to include the offending load case(s) in the analysis. or 2. Modify the combination to remove all analyzed load case(s) from analyzed combinations. Forum Post: Spring Hanger Thermal Movement
Hello, I am working on 2 different Autopipe models and the results of thermal movement given in the hanger selection report seem to me wrong. - First model: My colleague worked on a model. During her holiday, I copied and pasted her model without changing anything. When I performed a hanger selection, I found: Thermal movement=-20mm In her folder, I opened the hanger selection report she performed and I found: Thermal movement=-5mm - Second model I created a model with a spring hanger. -Z elevation is 1200mm. The delta T is (400°C - 21.1°C). So I expected a thermal movement around (400-21.1) * 1200mm * 18.1*10^-6 mm/mm/°C = 8.5 mm However, the thermal movement in the hanger selection report is -19.5mm. I don't understand the results. Could you please help me? Thanks, Julie

Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): ALL; Area: Flange Date Logged & Current Version Dec 2019 12.02.00.14 Problem: When Int. press ration >1.0, does this mean that the Flange failed? Solution: A new enhancement was added to the program, calculate bolt tensile stress ratio due to internal pressure and external loadings (see AutoPIPE help for details) This calculation is using ASME section VIII Div.2 Eq. 4.16.7 divided by allowable stress for the bolt evaluated at design temperature. This is a requirement for Div 2 analysis only, however if you are running a Div 1 analysis. The help goes on to mention: "Program is also considering same approach for calculating bolt tensile stress for ASME section VIII Div.1 and ASME section III Appendix XI" As of Dec 2019, there is no code required bolt stress calculation for Div 1 or section III Appendix XI, therefore in lieu of using nothing this Div 2 calculation was used. In a future version of this report, a note may be added to specifically states that this ratio is a Div 2 requirement only. See Also Flange Analysis - AutoPIPE Bentley AutoPIPE

Forum Post: Steel-reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe
Hi, I was asked to run stress analysis for 2 km long buried water distribution pipe made of composite material , named Steel-reinforced RTP ( http://www.flexsteelpipe.com/ ). I did analysis with AutoPipe for pure HDPE pipe using ASME CC-N-755-1 under B31.4 Code , but never dealt before with this RTP pipe. I am wondering if you can give me some advise. Thank you, Olzie

Hello Mike Dattilio, Correct me if I'm wrong, Bentley's customers on SELECT can work with any Bentley software they want. For software they do not have license for, they will receive an overuse invoice. If so, it's not clear to me your answer that they need to have access to a valid contract that has AutoPIPE Advance.

Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): All Area: Settings Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Date Logged & Current Version Jan 2015 09.06.01.10 Problem: What are AutoPIPE's file extension, and can they be be deleted without affecting the model? Solution: Please see the following AutoPIPE help section: Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Bentley AutoPIPE> File Reference> Working Directory Files Each of the files listed in this subsection are stored in the current working directory. The working directory is established from the directory where the file was created/opened using either the File/New or File/Open commands. Otherwise, AutoPIPE places each of them in the program directory. The file name for all permanent, unformatted files is the same as the name of the model. Other file names are as noted. Unformatted Working Directory Files Formatted Working Directory Files The most import file types are the model *.DAT and *.CMB with the model's specified library files. All the other files in the model directory are created after applying loads, analyzing the model, and reviewing results. However, if the certain files are deleted from the directory the analysis results will be different. Example: Person A created a model that had performed a fluid transient analysis and created an Output report. Person A sends only the *.DAT and *.CMB files to Person B who plans to recreate the original results. Person B opens the model and runs the analysis. However, the results does not include the time history results, why? The reason is because the THL and TIH files were missing from Persons B file directory. These files are automatically created by completing the Load> Fluid Transient dialog screen. The correct procedure would be to save an AutoPIPE Archive APC file . This single file will contain most of the files require to run the analysis correctly. See Also File / Model Management Bentley AutoPIPE

Forum Post: RE: Spring Hanger Thermal Movement
Good day to you Julie, Suggest that you review how a Cold / Hot hanger design are analyzed by AutoPIPE, see wiki here for location of help information. After your review of these procedures you can take the time to perform the steps as described to understand the results. Next, comparing results between models. You mentioned " I copied and pasted the .dat file without changing anything. I performed a hanger selection and I found a thermal movement of -20mm.". Please note that there are other files involved besides the DAT file ( see WIKI here ) . You should have opened the model created a complete input listing report, created a complete Output listing report, analyzed all, created an archive APC file. and then copied the APC file to a new directory. IF you ever have a question on why the results are different between model, see WIKI here select hyperlink "2 exact model files but with different results". After performing this comparison, you will see any differences between the model and be able to fix most common issues to get exact results between models. If the models do not have the exact same input the results will be different. Hello Avi_C, Did you follow the instructions mentioned before, on the activate product screen in BLT the user can add an application to be activated. Furthermore, without looking up the details on your account I do not know Which type of Select Subscription you actually have Are there some restrictions in place preventing users from accessing certain product licenses, If the person trying to use the application is registered correctly for the account Etc... At this point, best that you have the person try the instructions mentioned above in my reply on Dec 17th. If that does not work, suggest that the person contact Bentley Licensing team for assistance in licensing the program. The Bentley Licensing team will be able to provide exact instructions over the phone or in a live meeting and detailed information about the account with regards to usage.
