Dear All, I want to use the cut short function to minimize expansion loop dimensions on a long run steam pipe (P=47Barg & T=380°C). I am aware that according to ASME B31.1 cut short is not allowed for limiting code stresses, because the stress range accounts for cyclic loading of the pipe. But in my case there will be onla a few cycles during the pipe's lifetime (less than 50 for 20 years service), in this case the code is not very clear. So my question is: Is there a way to use cut short for minimizing expansion loop dimensions (i.e limiting code stress) for a steam pipe? Best regards,
