Forum Post: Buried pipes - how to define expansion cushions
For buried pipelines, expansion cushions will be used in the bends to allow the pipeline to move by 20 to 60 mm (use of 1 to 3 expansion cushions). The thickness of the cushion is 40 mm, the length is 1 m. They will be used in stages. How is it possible to define in Autopipe the possibility of displacement in bends by 20, 40 and 60 mm for buried pipes? Is it possible in soil parameters? Or is it necessary to use a support in these places? Thank you for the advice.

What is Bentley TSG? Bentley Technical Support Group (TSG) is dedicated to assisting our SELECT subscribers with technical problems encountered in Bentley applications. Technical problems include defects in the software, user errors, enhancement requests, and general problems associated with using Bentley’s software. TSG, however, is not responsible for training users on the proper use of our software. Most training issues ("How do I …") can be resolved by reading the Help files available with each application and through tutorials provided with the software. Our analysts are technically minded and reserved primarily for users who have production issues because of problems with the software or user inflicted errors. It would be detrimental to our users if our limited resources spent their time training users on how to use the software. Bentley has a Professional Services group who are dedicated to providing professional consulting and training. If you are interested in receiving formal training on any Bentley application, login to SELECT services Online http://www.bentley.com/en-US/training/products/ or contact your Account Manager. In addition, due to liability and lawsuit issues, Bentley TSG, cannot assist you in design decisions (ex. what material values should be used, how to fix over stress, what piping code should be used, etc..) or construction details established by individual clients, engineering firms, project documentation, and/or code specific documentation. Lasty, o nly versions of the program covered by our support policy are eligible for product support. Suggest that you download and update to the most recent version of the program from the Bentley Software Download website , then check to see if the problem has already been fixed. If not, submit a new case and attach information as mentioned below. You may consider some other reasons why to keep your version of the program up to date - click here . Wiki Page: 00. How to export drawings from AutoPIPE Vessel? and what drawing programs / file formats are supported?
Answer: As of July 2023, Please see AutoPIPE Vessel help for information on exporting drawings: a) AutoPIPE Vessel uses a CAD plugin to create drawings, therefore a cad program (ex. AutoCAD, BricsCAD, Microstation, Solidworks, etc..) must have been installed before trying to export the respective drawing from AutoPIPE Vessel. b) 2D and 3D Drawings can be automatically created: - Any CAD software - *.DGN - Microstation - *.DGN - AutoCAD / BricsCAD (Classical version) - *.DWG - SolidWorks - *.SLDPRT (3D only) Again, no CAD software needed to generate 2D or 3D drawings in DGN, but you need AutoCad, BricsCad, or Solidworks to generate other formatted files. With that said, users must select a Cad Software from the Preference dialog and enter the executable path. After using the "Execute > Generate Drawing" command; AutoPIPE Vessel will export a formatted file, automatically start the cad software using the path specified, and then open the respective file just exported. If no software is specified, then navigate to the folder containing the AutoPIPE Vessel model, search for a *.DGN drawing file, and use other applications to manipulate the file as needed. If there is a need to export a different file type or add to the dropdown listings of compatible applications that are currently available, please post an IDEA, instructions here .

Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Vessel Version(s): ALL Area: Report Date Logged & Current Version Aug 2021 41.01.01.011 Problem: While calculating maximum allowable nozzle loads (Fmax) as per EN 13445-3 (2021), Why Δ, K & α are zero? Solution: While calculating global longitudinal compressive stress limit, As per EN 13445-3 (2021) Clause 16.14.8, Cylinders should not be checked against longitudinal buckling if equation 16.14-15 satisfied. Refer below reference. If equation 16.14-15criteria met, then permissible longitudinal compressive stress σ c, all may be taken as design stress f of the nozzle. Hence in this case no further calculations for Δ, K & α are zero, and σ c, all is same as design stress at design temperature. Note: AutoPIPE Vessel u sing fabrication tolerance quality class C and taking factor PSI (ψ) = 0,75 which is a conservative assumption for vessels that satisfy the manufacturing tolerance requirements of EN 13445-4:2019, Clause 6.
