Applies To Product(s): Plantflow Version(s): 06.02.xx.xx and higher Area: Download, Install, License Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Important : Bentley PlantFLOW is compatible with: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Vista x64, Windows XP x64, Windows 7, Windows 7 x64. This does not mean that the software cannot be run on another operating systems not specified in the readme file, but that it has not been tested/certified by the CAE development team to be installed on another OS. The user can try to install the application on any OS. However, Bentley cannot be held liable for results or provide technical support for installation on untested systems. One may consider installing the application on a Virtual machine running a supported OS. 1. Download PlantFLOW Since PlantFLOW has been deprecated, it is no longer available for download from Bentley's Software Download site. User must submit a Bentley Case mention this WIKI and request a link to download the application. 2. Install PlantFLOW This new version of PlantFLOW is able to run on 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows XP, VISTA, Win 7, Note: Bentley cannot be held responsible for results from an installation of this software on an Operating System that is not specified in the application's read-me file. Installing and all output results from Bentley PlantFLOW on these other OS is at your own risk. Some preliminary tests have shown that the application will install and appears to be functional on Win 8 & higher. These OS have not been fully tested and using the application on these versions of Windows is subject to the disclaimer above. Uninstall previous version of PlantFLOW Back up your existing project files From the Control Panel> select Add or Remove Programs Select PlantFLOW Press the “Change/Remove” button. Complete the process to remove/delete the application. Delete Plant flow folder from computer hard drive. Locate the PlantFLOW file downloaded, unzip to a folder. Select “Start”, “Run”, “Browse”, browse for “ Setup.exe ” inside the extracted folder. Accept all default settings. Do not start the application at the tim 3. Download Bentley IEG Use the same procedure above to download Bentley IEG 02.00.20.01 - download here . 4. Install Bentley IEG This is a separate install and is required IEG must be installed by user with Admin privileges and cannot be pushed over a network connection. Please confirm you are logged on as an admin user, do not assume Un-install any previously installed version of Bentley IEG License Service from Control Panels 'Add or Remove Programs' Select “Start” , “Run”, “Browse”; open the folder where you downloaded the application too or insert the CD and run “iegls02002001en.msi” to start the installation process. Verify that the application installed, Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Bentley IEG should be listed. If was not installed, means that the application was only unzipped to the computer system; to complete the installation goto C:\BentleyDownloads\ieg02002001en and run the iegls02002001en.msi application. After installation, the computer should be rebooted. 5. Set- up License PlantFLOW is no longer eligible for subscription renewal or placement on a contract that supports pooled licensing because it has been deprecated. Only a Cancelation Node lock license that is tied to a specific machine by its name can be used to license the product. If you need a Cancelation Node Lock License, please get in touch with your Bentley Salesperson or Bentley Contracts / Renewal department. For the duration of the quarter, this kind of license will only work on one computer. See WIKI here for managing a node lock license. Select Server and License Management Tool instructions: File > Open License Management Tool by using one of the following methods: Start PlantFLOW, select PlantFLOW Demo button, Select Tools> Settings> License Management Tool. Open windows run utility, Start> Run> type “ licensetool ” and press OK button. Search your entire hard drive for “ Licensetool.exe” Verify PlantFLOW licenses are listed on the License Checkout screen and at least 1 license is available for check out. Note: Can I restrict license usage to checkouts only? If not, verify the Server Name and Site Activation Key, Tools> Options> press the test connection button. Should see the following. If not, Contact Bentley Licensing group. 6. Start PlantFLOW software If the following appears when trying to stat PlantFLOw, please go back to step #4 above and install Bentley IEG software. Select the PlantFLOW program icon from: Start> Program> Bentley Engineering> PlantFLOW V8i > PlantFLOW V8i The Welcome to PlantFLOW screen will appear. Select the version button listed on your contract: PlantFLOW Standard or PlantFLOW Plus If licensing was correctly installed, the application is now checking for an available license to check out from the License Management Tool. If a valid license has been located, the “Welcome to PlantFLOW 6.2” screen disappears and the application is ready for use. Verify application is not in DEMO mode by inspecting the top of the application bar. The specified licensed version name should appear in the applications bar at the top of the application window. Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE, Version(s): All Area: Warning, Library Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Problem: While using AutoPIPE, the following warning appears, W726-37: Expansion at T1 is outside of temperature range at point XXX for material YYYY Why? How to resolve? Solution: There are a number of reasons why this warning would appear: Reason #1: According to the Library data and material properties specified, temperature load case(s) may be requesting a library value that is outside of the range of data in the library. Review the material's library information to confirm temperature setting is within the data range specified in the library. A. Start AutoPIPE, and select Tool> Library> Table type = Spec, Library name = B313-18, Action = Scan: Press OK button B. AutoPIPE Viewer should automatically start. C. Find the SPECIFICATION material in the document using the search tool (example: A312-TP304L). D. Noticed the temperature range for the Specific material (example: = -425 deg F to 1500 deg F) . If the temperature setting is outside of this range for this information the warning will be displayed. Question: Is this the only place to look for Material Information ? Answer : Correct, NO! e. Again, select Tool> Library> Table type = Material, Library name = B313-18, Action = Scan: Press OK button f. AutoPIPE Viewer should automatically start. g. Find the Material referenced from the SPEC table above in the document using the search tool (example: AU-TYPE 304). D. Noticed the temperature range for the Material table (example: = -325 deg F to 1400 deg F) . If the temperature setting is outside of this range for this information the warning will be displayed. Reason #2: If a new customized material library has been created and used, the warning above may appear if there are problems with the material file. Review the SRC file and compiled errors to determine any potential problems. As mentioned above, if the temperature setting is outside the library's range, then the message above would be displayed. However, AutoPIPE would automatically linearly interpolate Expansion data, other data will use last value in material library, to be used in the analysis. Again the user has the option to suppress these warnings at their discretion. Workaround: 1. Select a different material that has data ranges on both tables that meet or exceed the Temperature setting. 2. Create a custom material library that extends the temperature and respective data ranges. FAQs: Question: Do you know why the allowable for 304L is set so low? Answer : When it comes to questions related to why the material temperature range is not more inclusive, the answer is because of the resource used for the material file had such a limited range of temperatures. A simple form (imaged below) is provided for the user to enter in specific details related to their Technical Support request The following should appear after completing the form, adding files, and clicking the Submit button: From here the user can: 1. Know what Case number this new TSG question was submitted under (ex. CS077) 2. Located in the top right corner, confirm when the case was submitted, when it was updated, and the case current status. 3. In the black banner, see the short title of the case. 4. Also in the black banner, select the " Show More " dropdown to see full text written when submitting the case. 5. Just below the black banner, confirm current: Priority, Ultimate Account name, Contact name, and Product that the case is related to 6. On the Activity tab, see a complete history of correspondence / actions performed. Note, no history text box can be modified. The user is only able enter in new text in the space provided. 7. On the Attachments tab, see a complete list of attachment related to the case.

Problem: I need Technical support for AutoPIPE, How do I log a Case and get an answer to my questions? Solution: Every problem with AutoPIPE should start by logging a new Case. Each Case has a unique number associated to it to enable easy tracking of a reported issues. When contacting Bentley, any analyst can refer to that number and have immediate access to all the account information and details on all communication between the user, analyst, and development team's responses. Users are warned against contacting Bentley Personnel directly with technical questions as these people can be out of the office and take a while to respond. By logging a Case, the available analyst will become aware of the new problem and take appropriate action. The user will also receive an automated reply that they can reply to with extra information or files (strongly advised to include all models, screenshots, etc. in one ZIP file), and CC additional people as necessary. This workflow guarantees that every issue is properly logged, all parties are well informed, anyone can quicky see at a glance the current status, and all communications can are accurately recorded for future reference. There are 4 different options to log a Bentley Service Request: Option #1: General Procedure using AutoPIPE or complete Portal training material - here Option #2: CONNECTION Center Option #3: Using www.bentley.com Option #4: Call Bentley by phone - click here Contact Bentley Systems Inc by phone and request that a Service Ticket be logged for you. The user can verify, review, and add to a case after successfully submitting it to Bentley, and shortly after that, Bentley Technical Support will contact them by phone or email to further discuss the problem. In the event of an email response, Bentley's Case Manager will only be able to properly update the case and alert the designated Bentley Analyst that the case has an update by responding to these precisely prepared emails. You can add more recipients to these specially designed email communications, as was already explained. Note, all emails that are sent to support@bentely.com that are not formatted correctly maybe lost and never responded to. If you see: "Access Denied" message Only people who have the correct User Entitlement can log a service request. If you were denied access, please contact your Bentley On-site Admin to ensure that you have the correct privileges enabled. Solution: This message has nothing to do with Bentley. This is a 3rd party application called SofTrack Workaround: Suggest that the user has the most recent version of Connection Client installed and is logged in using the proper credentials. Also, recommend that one of the company's appointed Bentley On Site Administrator(s) review the account user management settings and general account settings to be correctly configured. If everything is correctly configured then please understand that Technical problems with 3rd party apps, such as SofTrack, cannot be resolved by Bentley's AutoPIPE technical support. Forum Post: Spiral wound material
Dear all, I have a question regarding sporal wound gasket material which are two types in autopipe, SPIRAL-WOUND CARBON WITH MINERAL FIBER FILL and SPIRAL-WOUND ALLOY WITH MINERAL FIBER FILL. The difference is the strength factor [m], 3 for alloy and 2.5 for carbon. However, I don't know the material for which parts of spiral wound gasket since spiral wound gasket has 3 layer (inner, filler, centering ring (outer)). For example, Is alloy material for the inner or outer ring of gasket?
