Greetings Jeff Webb, Please note that all of the examples in AutoPIPE help and workbooks are fictious. T hey are all just made up scenarios to train users on how to use the program. Furthermore, all of the numbers used in said example are also fictious. The flow rate would be a known flow rate in the system at the time of the transient event. This would be provided by an outside source (like pump flow characteristics, flow analysis program output, etc.. Greetings Daniel Finn, Please note that AutoPIPE only understands that the U1..Uxx is a load case. It does not know exactly what it represents. Therefore is treated as an occasional load and auto combinations are generated with that in mind. However, you can change the auto combinations to use a different type of calculation. Please open the offending combination, uncheck Auto Update, and then change the Category selection as needed to evaluate the combination with a different set of equations. I will check on your other question related to " stress check valid for occasional displacement". Stand by... Wiki Page: 03. Bentley AutoPIPE Acceptance Test Set (ATS)
The Bentley AutoPIPE Acceptance Test Set (ATS) provides the user with a recommended procedure for validating the integrity of an installed AutoPIPE QA & Report subscription service version of the program. Therefore, an ATS is created for AutoPIPE QA & Reporting subscription releases only as a benefit of the Bentley AutoPIPE QA program. Prior to any commercial or Quality Assured and Reporting (QA&R) subscription software release, the accuracy of the AutoPIPE program is verified by the execution of Alpha Tests. These Alpha Tests consist of a matrix of test systems designed to capture key feature attributes related to numeric and functional processing. Each set of test outputs is compared to a prepared set of expected results (i.e. hand calculations, some other well-established computer program, etc.), and evaluated for acceptance. The test matrix has been developed, verified, and documented per the requirements of the Bentley Software Quality Assurance Procedures (D/N# QAP). The ATS includes input files and full documentation covering a sampling of test systems and results documented from the respective Alpha Tests version. Although many program features are verified by the ATS, it should not be construed as being complete for testing of all program functions. Additional tests for specific program features are continually being developed. Until new test sets can be incorporated into this program, the end user (validation tester) must be responsible for creating suitable test systems, in addition to the ones supplied in this program. NOTES: 1. AutoPIPE version installed MUST match the same version of the ATS being used. Otherwise the test is invalid. 2. See FAQ about AutoPIPE's ATS here. 3. See instructions to Install, License, and Run AutoPIPE Automated Test Set here. 4. Is there an ATS for every version of AutoPIPE, see Item #6 here Available QA Versions: ver. 12.04.00.14, released Sept. 2020 Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 8 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 10 Professional or higher 32 or 64 bit OS Dependencies: Bentley AutoPIPE CONNECT - English 12.04.00.14 ver. 12.00.00.16, released April 2019 Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 8 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 10 Professional or higher 32 or 64 bit OS Dependencies: Bentley AutoPIPE CONNECT - English 12.00.00.16 ver. 11.01.00.24, released October 2017 Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 8 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 10 Professional or higher 32 or 64 bit OS Dependencies: Bentley AutoPIPE V8i - English 11.01.00.24 ver. 10.01.00.09, released May 02, 2016 Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 8 Professional or higher Microsoft Windows 10 Professional or higher 32 or 64 bit OS Dependencies: Bentley AutoPIPE V8i - English 10.01.00.09 ver. 09.06.01.11, released December 08, 2014 Operating Systems: Windows 8 Windows 8 (x64) Windows 7 Windows 7 (x64) Windows XP Dependencies: Structural Dashboard V8i - English 08.11.09.08 Bentley AutoPIPE V8i - English 09.06.01.11 ver. 09.05.01.05, released October 29, 2013 Operating Systems: Windows XP Windows Vista Windows Vista x64 Windows XP x64 Windows 7 Windows 7 x64 Dependencies: Structural Dashboard V8i - English 08.11.09.08 Bentley IEG License Service - English 02.00.20.01 Bentley AutoPIPE V8i - English 09.05.01.05 ver. 09.05.01.02, released June 26, 2013 Operating Systems: Windows XP Windows Vista Windows Vista x64 Windows XP x64 Windows 7 Windows 7 x64 Dependencies: Structural Dashboard V8i - English 08.11.09.08 Bentley IEG License Service - English 02.00.20.01 Bentley AutoPIPE V8i - English 09.05.01.02 ver. 09.05.00.21, released Jan 4, 2013 ver. 09.04.01.05, released Feb 22, 2012 ver. 09.03.02.05, released April 13, 2011 ver. 09.02.03.02, released July 15, 2010 ver. 09.01.01.02, released Jan 22, 2009 See Also ATS and Batch Processing - AutoPIPE Bentley AutoPIPE

What is the impact for the pipe installer "release for hanger selection" is checked?
↧
Forum Post: RE: Release for hanger selection
To elaborate: It is my understanding when sizing springs with the "release for hanger selection" checked, AutoPIPE treats the anchor as being free (in the selected degrees-of-freedom) during sizing. When they install the pipe if the degrees-of-freedom at the anchor does not match how the spring was sized, the applied cold load will not match the preset cold load. If the difference in load is large, it could be very difficult to remove the spring blocks. Thanks, Sean

Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): ALL; Area: Licensing Date Logged & Current Version May 2019 12.01.00.09 Problem: Trial mode displayed on BLT for AutoPIPE license, why and how to avoid? Solution: During trial mode the full capability of the program per that license type will be available to the user. Example: 1. Active license = AutoPIPE Advanced in trial mode, see image above. This means that the user can use all the functions available in the program for Advanced Licensing. The user will not be able to use function reserved for Nuclear License. 2. Active License = AutoPIPE Vessel Pressure Vessel (Standard). This means that the user can only use those feature available when Standard Pressure Vessel License is enabled. The user cannot use those features reserved for Heat Exchanger or Ultimate license selection. First, open the program and, use WIKI here , select an edition of the program (Standard, Advanced, Nuclear) to be licensed. Does this resolve the issue? Yes, great continue using AutoPIPE No, continue below Does the product have "Allowed" listed in the Access column? No, use WIKI here to activate product, After successful activation of the product, start over from the top of this page.. Yes, continue below, Note : After performing each step below, refresh policy in BLT to see if the issue has been resolved 1. Open BLT (Bentley Licensing Tool) , perform the following: a. Wiki Page: 01. Batch Processing , also known as "Automated System Processing"- AutoPIPE
AutoPIPE has the ability to perform analyses, and produce reports for a previously defined system database ( *.DAT ) without user interaction. This gives the designer the opportunity to concentrate on modeling system databases during office hours, and then to run the desired analyses and create the result reports for each system overnight. In Windows, the automated system processing is performed using an MS DOS shell. Once inside the shell, the procedure is similar to the DOS automated processing. The automated process is controlled through the use of parameter switches when AutoPIPE is executed: Note: make the folder where AutoPIPE.exe is located the current folder before entering the following, Otherwise enter the full file path in quotes, example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AutoPIPE CONNECT\autopipe.exe". autopipe {filename} /h /s /m /r /a /f /i /l /b /t /v /n from the DOS prompt where filename = AutoPIPE system database name (without the DOS file extension). If filename is omitted, all switches are ignored. An AutoPIPE Batch file or AutoPLANT PXF file can be specified by adding the following extension to the DOS command line: autopipe {filename.ntl} /h /s /m /r /a /f /i /l /b /t /v /n for an AutoPIPE Batch file or autopipe {filename.pxf} /h /s /m /r /a /f /i /l /b /t /v /n for an AutoPLANT PXF file or autopipe {filename.cii} /h /s /m /r /a /f /i /l /b /t /v /n for a Caesar CII file or where filename = AutoPIPE system database name (without the DOS file extension). To convert the PXF or NTL file to AutoPIPE only, include filename , the extension, and the /p option. For example, to convert filename.pxf to filename.dat : autopipe {filename.pxf} /p The automated system processing parameter switches are listed below: Note : For the most recent switches according to the version being used, consult the program's help. /a = Perform a harmonic analysis. /b = Create the batch report file (*.OUT) (AutoPIPE v.12.2 and lower) /c = Perform thermal transient analysis. /d = Create input listing (*.MDB) file. /e1 = Export model as Stress Isometric DGN (*.DGN) file. /e2 = Export model as Stress Isometric DWG (*.DWG) file. /e3 = Export model as Stress Isometric DXF (*.DXF) file. /e4 = Export model as Stress Isometric 2D DGN (*.2D.DGN) file. /f = Perform a force spectrum analysis. /g = Create SQLite input listing (*.SQI). /h = Perform a hanger design run. /i = Perform a seismic anchor movement analysis. /k = Export model as an NTL (neutral) file. /l = Create input listing (*.RPT) file (AutoPIPE v.12.2 and lower) /m = Perform a modal analysis. /n = Perform a flange analysis. /o = Create SQLite output report (*.SQO). /p = Convert an AutoPIPE Batch or AutoPLANT PXF file to an AutoPIPE database. /r = Perform a response spectrum analysis. /s = Perform a static analysis. /t = Perform a time history analysis. /v = Create the result MDB file. /y = Accept all message prompts without requiring user intervention. /z = Suppress AutoPIPE GUI. See AutoPIPE program's help for more details on this feature. Notes: 1. The command listing above is an all inclusive listing, some of these switches may not function in your version of the program. See AutoPIPE help for "Automated System Processing" for a completely listing of commands applicable to your version installed. 2. The Batch Input, PXF Input, or Caesar II Input file can be specified for automated system processing. If Batch Input is specified then the command line parameter switches become unnecessary if the appropriate SOLVE and RESULT Batch Input cards have been included in the file. However, if the command line parameter switches are provided but the appropriate SOLVE Batch input cards are not included, the switch will be ignored, e.g. the /m switch will be ignored if the MODE option in the SOLVE Batch Input card is not included. 3. Some of AutoPIPE's features may appear and require user input before the can Batch can continue. Suggest shutting off such features before running a batch file. Examples: a. Welcome to AutoPIPE Licensing - uncheck "Show Welcome Screen on startup" in the lower left corner of the dialog b. Welcome to AutoPIPE Licensing - Select a valid AutoPIPE edition. Cannot use Demo mode. Set AutoPIPE edition to one of the following: Standard, Advance, or Nuclear based on the license and features needed to run the batch. c. Wiki Page: 02. Bentley AutoPIPE Installation Test Set (ITS)
Bentley AutoPIPE 12.03.00.17 and higher provides Commercial users with an Installation Test Set (ITS), so they can verify proper operation of AutoPIPE program once it has been installed on a computer. The accuracy of AutoPIPE is verified by Bentley during execution of Alpha Tests, which are performed prior to any Commercial or Quality Assured release. Alpha Tests consist of a matrix of test systems designed to capture key feature attributes related to numeric and functional processing. Each set of test outputs is compared to a prepared set of expected results (i.e. Mathcad's, hand calculations, some other well-established computer program etc.), and evaluated for acceptance. This ITS is based on a selected sample of test systems from the entire Alpha Test matrix. Using the Command Search Utility: Search for "Installation Test set" Once the command has been selected the following dialog will appear. First select the Documentation button and thoroughly read it to understand how to use the feature and the limitations when compared to a QA/R ATS. Only after reading the document should one attempt to run the ITS. Typical questions: Q1. Where are the ITS files saved? Answer: As mentioned in the ITS documentation: Each output file generated by the test is automatically compared to the corresponding previously verified output file (from Alpha tests) located in the “OUT” directory of the AutoPIPE installation directory. The result of this comparison is stored in the text file ComparisonLog.txt. Location example, AutoPIPE 12.7 C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AutoPIPE CONNECT v12\ITS\OUT Q2. Most validation procedures require comparison of Mathcad's, hand calculations, etc. to output results; are these extra files available for AutoPIPE Commercial user? Answer: The only files available and their locations are mentioned in the documentation PDF indicated on the dialog above. Suggest to read the entire PDF file and follow the "Installation verification Procedure" mentioned in the PDF. IF your audit / verification requires more documentation than provided by the ITS, consider updating to a QAR subscription to have access to the full ATS and many more perks. Q3. W hat are the expected results of the ITS? Answer: As mentioned in the ITS documentation, the intent of of the ITS is to "verify proper operation of AutoPIPE program". This is done with comparing the results from the ITS to respective results extracted from the complete ALPHA tests performed. Therefore to see the expected results, open and review the original output files in the ITS folder mentioned above. Added information, the Alpha test results are vetted with documented Mathcad's, hand calculations, some other well-established computer program, etc. User that apart of the QA program are able to run the full ATS and receive a copious amount of information supporting each model of the ATS. This level of information in not available outside of the QA program. See WIKI here for more information on AutoPIPE's QA program. Q4. Which node points in the model are checked. Answer: The complete output reports are compared. Any differences in settings or values would have been flagged in the log file. Q5. When will there be more models added to the ITS? Answer: Unfortunately the ITS will not be expanded to any more models. Again, the intent of the ITS is to provide a means of validation for the AutoPIPE computer program to analyze and produce accurate results for a small variety of piping models as installed in a specific operating environment. The ITS is not intended to validate every code and type of calculation. If you require a more in-depth test set then please sign up for the AutoPIPE QA program. This program has what is called an ATS that runs over 100+ models. See WIKI here and contact Joanie Mayberry for more details about joining the QA program. See Also ATS, ITS, and Batch Processing - AutoPIPE Validation Certificate Bentley AutoPIPE
↧
Wiki Page: Q. How soon will the ATS be ready for AutoPIPE version xxx?
Answer: It takes a considerable amount of time and effort to produce an Automated Test Set: new model creation, new supporting Mathcad's, updated documentation, updated software, Certifications, etc.. Therefore not every AutoPIPE version released will have an associated ATS . The QA manager will send out notification to all QA subscribers when the ATS and documentation are completed, typically 1-3 months after a new version of AutoPIPE has been released. Furthermore, the ATS software version must match the AutoPIPE software version mentioned in the documentation. You CANNOT and must not mix the versions of these applications as it will void the test. As an example: cannot use AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.00.19 to run AutoPIPE ATS 09.05.01.02. QA&R subscription users are urged to contact the QA Software Quality Manager for details on estimated time of arrival for their software shipments. They are tasked with performing all the testing and distribution of all software to QA&R user.
