Is there a way for AutoPipe to determine the total length of a model? If there is I must be totally missing it somewhere. Any clarification is appreciated. All the best, Jeff

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: procal.exe Solution: In this user's case, the reason is simple: it is not a Tank! The user tried to make a Tank in using a vertical vessel model and moreover in using a pressure vessel code (CODAP), it doesn't make sense. Only Tank with API 650 can be modeled with APV. Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Vessel Version(s): ALL Area: Modeling Date Logged & Current Version March 2018 40.06.00.07 Problem: When running the program it stops without a warning. Running on an other computer gives the same result. Why and how to resolve? Solution: After reviewing this user file it was determined that many things must be changed in their input data file: a. All the elements on the tubes side must be on chamber 2 (nozzles T1, T2 ;elements of geometry 103, shell 102) b. A tubesheet cannot be directly welded on an elliptical head : insert between the body flange 301 and the the elliptical head 303 a shell which has a length equal to the straight flange of the head + the height of the flange at least. c. All the elements on the shell side must be on chamber 1 (body flange 301) After the appropriate changes were made the model was able to run without issue. Wiki Page: Q. How to resolve issue with bracket type selection when using AutoPIPE Vessel?
Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Vessel Version(s): ALL Area: Modeling Date Logged & Current Version March 2018 40.06.00.07 Problem: Text Solution: AutoPIPE Vessel offers various design standards for bracket design viz. APVessel, Technip, Foster etc. There may be certain instances when the program may not execute with selection of the above standards, however there is a workaround for this at the moment. Workaround From the drop down menu select the desired standard eg. APVessel. Then click on the drop down menu once again and change the selection to “User Defined” as shown below. Observe that all the fields still have the same value and nothing has changed from the previous selection (APVessel in this case) except that the fields which were earlier disabled or greyed out have become active now. Click “OK” and proceed with the strength calculations. The program should be able to execute this time without any issue. See Also Crashed issues AutoPIPE Vessel Bentley LEARN Server

Setup Failed - Oxfffffffe - Unspecified error why and how to avoid? Solution: The installation fails when installing “CONNECTION Client”. Check the log file to identify the cause of the issue (failed to execute the CONNECT Client package): Solution: Start again the installation of AutoPIPE Vessel to display all dialog boxes. To do that we have to specify an argument to the setup program. Wiki Page: Q. Why does AutoPIPE Vessel crash when executing calculation on a tall column with trays?
Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Vessel Version(s): ALL Area: Crashed Date Logged & Current Version June 2018 40.06.00.07 Problem: Why does program crash when executing Strength calculations of a tall column with several trays? Is this because there is a limit on the height of the vessel? Why does it happen and how to correct this? Solution: There is no restriction on the height of column in AutoPIPE Vessel, however the crash may occur because excessive number of loads being applied due to very large number of trays and or attachments as shown below: FIGURE 1 AutoPIPE Vessel has a limit of upto a maximum of 400 loads that can be applied for the beam model. A workaround could be to replace some trays and accessories and replace them by a single equivalent internal (vertical load) as shown, that way it would reduce the total number of applied loads and keep it within the limit specified above: FIGURE 2 The top 2 sets of trays (total 35) in figure 1 is replaced by an equivalent vertical load of 103005 daN as in Figure 2. The file executes without a problem when the weights of the trays are replaced by the equivalent load as shown above. Please note - reduction of the conical skirt in these scenarios may also resolve the problem and the reason for that is a conical section creates several different sections in the beam model (and consequently several points of load), so when the user decreases the length of the skirt then the number of loads is decreased. This happens due to a defect in the GUI which is currently under investigation and would be fixed in the next build to be released in September 2015. Please for the moment consider keeping the supports below the elevation of 2100 in or perform hand calculations. Answer: Purchased software with out an Annual Select Agreement or cancelled an Annual Select Agreement for perpetual licenses. Here are the features of a Non-Select service contract: a. User is not entitled to upgrades when they become available. b. Access will be denied to the Software Download page. c. User can log a Bentley Case , but cannot view / manage them on-line. d. Node lock licenses are computer specific and cannot be shared between computers. e. Cannot have multiple versions of the same software licensed (example cannot Node lock AutoPIPE 11.04. and 12.06 with the same license file). Note: a. Node Locked (Non-Select) FAQ - click here b. Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): ALL; Area: Calculations Date Logged & Current Version May 2022 12.08.00.063 Problem: What is the significance of Bending Stresses in ASME B31.1 2018? Solution: Piping component should meet the requirement given in the equation (15), (16) & (17) from ASME B31.1 to qualify in stress analysis. Equation (15) gives requirement for Longitudinal stress due to pressure, weight, and other sustained loads (S L ) as follows, Here, M A = resultant moment loading on cross section due to weight and other sustained loads, in.-lb (mm-N) (see para. 104.8.4). First part of longitudinal stress is pressure stress and second part is bending stress. For example, For Node Number A57 code stresses are as follows, Find below manual calculations with same design conditions and moments, As results are matching you can see the effect of bending stress on the longitudinal stress calculation.
