Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): ALL; Area: Software Date Logged & Current Version May 2019 12.01.00.09 Problem: Connection client will not show updates for all newer versions of AutoPIPE, however newer versions can be found on Software download site, why? see example below Examples: Trying to upgrade AutoPIPE 11.02 to a newer version. If AutoPIPE 11.02 is currently installed and both versions of AutoPIPE 11.04 and AutoPIPE 12.01 are available. Will Connection Client show both version in update? Solution: If you answered NO, congratulations you are correct. If you answer Yes, read below: Understand that CONNECTION Client will only indicate latest update for the Major Version Year release number (AA) [ understanding release numbers ] of the version that you currently have installed . At this time, May 2019, CONNECTION Client does not indicate software updates available across Major Enhancement release numbers . Another words, if you have AutoPIPE 11 installed, Connection Client would only show updates where the Major Version Year release number (AA). All other software versions starting with a different Major Version Year release number (AA) will be ignored. Scenario #1 : AutoPIPE 11.02 is presently installed on a computer. The Connection Client update button was pressed sometime in September 2018 to see whether there were any AutoPIPE upgrades that were more recent than 11.02. What version will be displayed in the Connection Client given that AutoPIPE 11.3 and 11.4 have already been made available at this point? Answer: If you answered only 11.4, congratulations you are correct. If you answer anything else, read below: Once more, Software download should only be showing the latest version available on this date, v.11.04. All other versions (ex. 11.3) should have been archived. Therefore, only version 11.4 would be indicated in Connection Client as an available update. Scenario #2 : AutoPIPE 11.02 is presently installed on a computer. The Connection Client update button was pressed on May 31, 2019 to see whether there were any AutoPIPE upgrades that were more recent than 11.02. What version will be displayed in the Connection Client given that AutoPIPE 11.3, 11.4, 12.0 and 12.01 have already been made available at this point? Answer: If you answered none of the above, congratulations you are correct. If you answer anything else, read below: Once more, Software download should only be showing the latest version available on this date, v12.04. All other versions (ex. 11.3, 11.04, and 12.0) should have been archived. Therefore, only version 12.4 would be indicated. However, since the only available version in Software Download had a Major Version Year release number (AA = 12) which is greater than that installed value (AA =11), Connection Client definition of update would prevent anything from being indicated. Again, no updates would be indicated even though 4 additional release were made available. Scenario #3: Upgrading from AutoPIPE 12.00 to 12.01 on May 31, 2019. Will CONNECTION Client indicate an update is available? Answer: Yes, there will be an update indication within CONNECTION Client. IF NOT, see procedure here to check for updates What is the latest version of AutoPIPE currently available? As of Aug 2023, Connection Client developers define an update as an increase in the following parts of a version number (see Understanding Software Version Number Format ): BB - Major Version Sequence number CC - Minor version release number DDD - Build iteration number As demonstrated above, there will be no indication of a higher version being available if the version's " AA - Major Version Year release number " were increased from that currently installed. Try to remember, AutoPIPE's development team aims to deliver two to three additional versions every year. Periodically spend time using one or more of the options below checking for the most recent program version. Available Options: 1. Review Connection Client Notifications Starting on 2023, more notifications are being posted for information on new versions being available that are not otherwise displayed by the Connection Client Update utility. 2. Review AutoPIPE Announcements Forum This forum is constantly updated with the latest information on available versions. 3. Manually Check Software Downloads Manually access Software Download website using instructions here and check to compare the latest version of AutoPIPE software with version installed on your computer. 4. Check Constantly Updated Version List On this WIKI here , the version list is continuously updated. Find your version and see if a newer version is available. Wiki Page: Q. What values to use for Crotch Radius and Crotch Thickness on a Welded / Contour tee per ASME B31J in AutoPIPE?
Applies To Product(s): AutoPIPE Version(s): ALL; Area: Modeling Date Logged & Current Version Feb 2023 12.08.04.009 Problem: What values to use for Crotch Radius and Crotch Thickness on a Welded / Contour tee in AutoPIPE? Solution: These fields cannot be autopopulated as every manufacture has different values for these fittings. The fitting standard only call for manufactures to maintain certain oversize dimensions and certain parameters with respect to the end connections. They do not control values such as those required by B31J standard for the calculating SIF values. The nuclear industry has had these requirements for entering tee values for the last 40+ years. See the corresponding sketches in the Table 1-1 and Notes (1), (6), (7) for Welding and Contour, and (1), (7), (10) for Fitting in B31J code book. Otherwise, see AutoPIPE help B31J tee notes for similar information that contains some recommended equations to manually calculate when the dimensions are not readily available. The following feature has been logged: 1092475, B31J SIF calculations, Add option to automatically calculate default SIF if specific component information is missing The development team will add this feature into a future version of the program. Until such time please contact the manufacture for this data or manually perform the calculation for the default value when dimensions are not readily available. Please note these manually calculations will produce a Higher SIF value which may produce more conservative results. See Also B31J Code questions Bentley AutoPIPE

Wiki Page: 03-s. Export Model to STAAD using ISM (*.)
Bentley’s Integrated Structural Modeling (ISM) allows structural engineers and designers to share structural engineering project information among modeling, analysis, design, drafting, and detailing software applications. More details on the philosophy behind ISM and how the process works can be found HERE . The chart below shows how structural engineering and BIM software brands interoperate with one another using ISM. Create ISM Repository Select File > Import/Export > ISM > Create Repository to create a new ISM repository by exporting an analytical piping model. This ISM repository can be later imported or opened in other Bentley ISM-aware applications. Notes: This technology has been replace with iTwin Analytical Synchronizer . At this time only geometry is supported by ISM files from AutoPIPE, no other information will be written to ISM files. Solution: As mentioned in the message, Structural Synchronizer has not bean installed. Structural Synchronizer is a separate program and needs to be downloaded and installed outside of AutoPIPE's installation. Use Bentley's software download to download the application and install. A machine reboot is needed after this install, best to close all programs and files before starting the Structural Synchronizer installation. Note 1. Only install the application versions mentioned in AutoPIPE's readme file or that which is apart of the install process. Recommend to not update any application version without explicit instructions from TSG. Example: AutoPIPE 23.00.00.230 installs iTwins Analytical Synchronizer Connect Edition v. 12.2.1.10, Do not upgrade to version 23.01.01.56 as it has not been tested / verified to work with this version of AutoPIPE. Forum Post: RE: Input grid was disappeared.
Greeting ChangHee, Appears that the grids are being displayed out of view or off screen. 2 scenarios can cause this issue: 1. Laptop user has a docking station with 2 monitors, then when using just the laptop screen out of the docking station the grids appear off screen. 2. User pressed the Minimize button on the grids, reduced it down to a small bar that located in lower left corner of the screen or off screen. Please read the wiki link here to know about the avoidance for this problem. Forum Post: Is there any way to confirm and modify the Tee flexibility factors calculated by AutoPIPE?
I wanted to study how the difference in the B31J flexibility factors with use of the B31J SIFs impact the overall stress calculated vs just using B31.1 or other SIFs. However, it is unclear to me how the flexibility factor is taken into account for tee components. I have found multiple discussions regarding bends, and I am aware that you can see the bend stiffness in the modeling environment and in the input listing summary, but I do not see anything similar for tee components. It would seem that this would also be applicable to other piping component SIFs that employ B31J.
